Small boxes...

It's always nice to have small boxes to put your little things into... The pictures above are showing a handcarved box from Norway - isn't it beautiful? And the pictures below are showing a jewellery case, I'm not sure if it's made of pewter or if it's silver....

Borgar Margarine factory in Norway

 

The two pictures above are some kind of "scrap-pictures" from a margarine factory in Norway that was established in 1933. They were probably used for publicity. 

In the pictures below you can see the different types of margarine that they produced at the time. I like the old-fashioned type of design on the boxes...

I remember the green box of syrup from my childhood in Norway in the 1960s and -70s. Before people used to put syrup on their sandwich.... Incredible... Nowadays, I think it's mainly used for baking purposes....

Cigarette holders/boxes from Norway

Today we know how dangerous smoking is. Something they didn't know in the old days. And when people came visiting they always put cigarettes on the table so that the visitors could smoke if they wanted. Maybe you had something like this to help you offering cigarettes to your guests?

Those who didn't go for the "fun way" to display their cigarettes used the regular metal boxes that you can see in the pictures below....

Picnic box

Before the plastic containers were invented they used mostly metal boxes. If you were lucky and your family went on a picnic, of course you had to bring with you a picnic box where you put everything you were going to eat and drink.

Milk- and soda bottles from Norway

This bottle is an old soda bottle. It has a really nice shape and I like the cap that's attatched to the bottle neck. It's made of porcelain and is somewhat different from today's plastic bottle caps... The name of the brewery (Hansa) is printed on the cap. This is a brewery in Bergen which is situated on the west coast in the south of Norway.

 

This kind of bottle is an old milk bottle. At first they where transparent and then they changed to this type of brown bottle, before they completely abandoned glass bottles and started using cartons. I think this happened before or around the 1960s because I'm born in the 1960s and don't remember the glass bottles.
